With the bottom falling out of the U.S. new car market, most automakers are scrambling to find ways to move excess inventory. General Motors has already announced that it will be extending its employee pricing event through September – which will now include most 2009 models – and now Volkswagen has announced that its 2008 models will be available with zero percent financing.
VW’s announcement comes as a bit of a surprise at the German automaker actually didn’t fair too badly during the month of August. However, the ’09 models are currently on their way to VW dealerships throughout the country, so it’s probably more of a ploy on VW’s part to clear out the 2008 models rather than to prop up sales.
The duration of the zero percent financing varies from vehicle to vehicle, but some models will be available with up to 60 month financing.
